Is it just me or is radio shack selling junk these days, seems like even WAL-MART has better stuff these days, and we all know they sell the cheapest crap. Raido Shack used to be known as a store to buy high quality electronics?
any comments?

For some reason they never made the inroads when they could have .....Like 1982-1991. I think due to the monoploy they wanted to have on Tandy ()?) Then Technology stopped being geeky and voila, all the mass retail channels leveraged the buying power. With no brand loyalty in technology, consumers ran to the cost effective solution.
Such a shame because I vividly remember reading their catalog in 1986-1987 ...but I was probaly the only one back then.

Now they are completely toast since they do not have the buying power nor floor traffic. Grocery stores probably sell more remote control cars than radio shack.

i like the interior reach radio shack. they actually understand what they are speaking approximately if your searching for something technical. Circuit city has been incredibly good. that they had the pc i wanted for much less then maximum suitable purchase and the service became greater effective. yet as quickly as I went to purchase a automobile radio the guy the two lied or had no theory what HD Radio became and theory that it had not greater stations on it which it does. maximum suitable purchase became staggering for the common first 2 weeks. After that i easily had to attend on an identical time as 2 salesmen observed who gained the basketball game. So i did no longer purchase something there after that!

The quality of personnel that work there are not as helpful and knowledgeable as they used to be. I purchased a few items from them recently and they did not know anything about the item at all and seemed very irritated when I asked them questions.
There are some good managers left, but for the most part, most of them do not want to be bothered with customer overall satisfaction and are not as dedicated as they used to seem to be.
I am sure that it has something to do with the way their Corporate offices seem to treat their front line managers and employees.
I still shop there once in a while for certain items, but it is like it was years ago that is for sure.

Radio Shack has always listened to their "managers", rather than their customers, and has paid the price for it. I would encourage not darkening their doorway and let them die as they deserve.

When they started up, they had some cool stuff that you could not get at other places, but then came competition and RS didn't have the management know-how to keep up.I saw at my last visit a few years ago nothing has changed.
