There's a particular religion that's very strong in the Middle East.
Seriously, though, it's a combination of poverty , oppression, and a harsh environment.
Oohay is right about Israel, though. They don't exactly turn the other cheek. I wonder how many Muslim children died last year after the Israelis bombed Lebanon. Juiced by the Jews.

I don't know which one kills the most but I know which one saves the most. The churches of the blood bought saints are busy working winning souls until Christ comes and our work is done.

In North and Central Africa, there are brutal wars with huge death tolls being fought by 'Christian' armies. You can't count suicide bombers in Palestine, because they are motivated by territory and resisting genocide, but there are Islamic armies killing, too. The Islamic army in Sudan was just run out by the U.N., Ethiopians, and edgy Sudanese.
But, of course, religion is an abstract idea. It's actually killers, in armies and in vigilante form, not 'religion' that kills anyone.
