how come cats arent red liek dogs and ppl have red hair

I have a red classic tabby (and this is the proper name for the color), and he is orange, but his stripes are most definitely red.

I used to work with a lady who went to lots of those cat shows, and she said orange cats are technically called red tabbies, even though they are orange. It makes no sense to me, since they don't look red!

Uh there are a lot of red cats. I owned a few red cats in my lifetime.
