I really like that movie... it really portryed a human man, and, as I recall, a bit of a ruse.

Provocative and engaging. I wasn't put off by some of the seamier stuff. It presents some thoughtful alternatives to the Life of Christ, and in a sense made his sacrifice all the more powerful for what he surrendered on people's behalf.

The movie wasn't bad either, though the Apostles with Brooklyn accents were a hoot.

I started to read the book once but moved on. I'm sure it's a good book, but since I wasn't a Christian at the time, I lost interest.

What I find interesting is his excommunication. Not that it wasn't to be expected. But he wrote the book out of his love of Christ. He wrote it as a means to explore all that Christ gave up for mankind. He wanted to make Christianity a living, breathing religion.

And as thanks for his love of Christ, the church villified him. Real nice.

PS - I liked the movie and the soundtrack is one of my favorite albums.

I enjoyed it very much. We often think of Jesus as having been just a saint and I found it very refreshing to see him and his life presented in such a way that I remembered that it was a normal man who discovered the Christ within himself and tried to teach it to others.

Flashing in front of subject-loose colleges. i'm no longer likely into the Michael Jackson stuff, yet I that's relaxing to computer screen the youngsters and instructors freak out. that's often while the cops ultimately %. me up.

You know I actually saw this at a movie theater when it came out. I wasn't a born again Christian at the time, although I did believe in God. There were people actually picketing it! I thought the movie was dull, not really blasphemous....just dull.

Not as controversial as naysayers will have you.
I love Willam Dafoe, and his portrayal.
This film is much better than "The Passion."

I found it profoundly boring. One of Scorsese's weakest efforts...and he's had some crap in the past as well (need I mention Cape Fear???)

I saw it when I was an Atheist and remember thinking how twisted it was back then.
