my girlfriend had Low-Grade Diffuse Astrocytoma and she had gone surgery which removed 80% and then radiotherapy to treat the tumour in1999. since she does MRI every year and she is clean and pure since then. Do you anything about its reoccurence (from any grade) and how confident can we be that she had completely recovered!? please please i welcome all your stories, if you have passed or your loves have passed in similar situations whatever they were. thanks in advance.

It seems very encouraging that she has been disease free for so long. The more time that passes the better the prognosis that the cancer will not return. There are no guarantees though, so your girl friend should always remain vigilant. Make sure she is checked regularly and becomes very aware of her body and any type of sign of reoccurence. Otherwise she should just go about her life (and you too) and not focus on what happened. If the cancer pops up again she will hopefully catch it early and be treated again.

Best wishes to you both.

4 years and clean bill of health she is in very good odds I would think. My mom had neuroblastoma, which not much protocol was available then for no one lived long enough to really develop a full plan but she fooled them all and with 2 surgeries, radiation implants to the brain, radiation to the tumor, two chemo treatments (very agressive treatment) she lived 2 1/2 years when others who went other places lived only 6 months.
I would feel very good with her health right now. Just remember like the nurses put a note on my moms mirror in her room.....
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not come, Make today the best day of your life......Good Luck and Good Health,

Surgical removal of the tumor is the first choice for treatment, but it may not be possible due the tumor's location. Surgery is usually followed by radiation. Patients under 35 years of age have a better prognosis than older patients; in older patients, low-grade tumors progress to higher grades more rapidly. Overall median survival is four to five years.

particularly some this relies upon on whether or no longer they are going to do surgical operation or to no longer get rid of the tumor. With surgical operation, it could be feasible to have an entire restoration. in the event that they are actually unable to do surgical operation and the tumor is growing to be without postpone, they could want to do radiation or chemotherapy to aim to cut back the size of the tumor. If she has accomplished all this and it has failed, the rigidity from the tumor will ultimately close down all of her needed organs and he or she would be able to bypass away. there is not any way of understanding how long this technique can take yet while she is napping all day, it could be concerning to the rigidity from the tumor or it may be the reliable soreness drugs they are giving her to make her delicate. there's no longer particularly sufficient tips about your placed as much as be certain whether this individual can proceed to exist or is close to loss of life.
