While I was busy at home working on the computer today I heard a bang hitting my window, shards of glass flying all over my computer desk. When I looked up I noticed blood all over the wood, and suddenly noticed something tapping against my foot. When I jumped up surprised, I looked beneath the desk and noticed a raven hopping around on one foot chirping wildly.

I quickly called the animal agency and when they came over they noticed the bird was wearing a tag from the owner living next door which you can see in the following photo as well as the window.

Since he is arab is it normal for people of their culture to own wild birds? Also, can I sue for having him let loose the bird in the first place and for damages?

Also, since he hasn't returned from his vacation, what can I do to take care of the bird who has a broken wing, and a injured talon?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Call a wildlife rescue. They can tell you where to take it. There are people that specifically help wild birds get better and then they set them loose again in the wild.

I would turn the bird over to the animal agency, they will know how to take care of it, and your neighbor will be able to claim it from them.

Being Arab, or in your case racist has nothing to do with the kind of pet a person keeps.

Since this was obviously an accident, and the damages consists of a broken window. Just try asking your neighbor to pay for the window before threatening to sue.

Since the gentleman was on vacation he is obviously not the one who let the bird out. And you would spend more money on court costs that he would be required to pay.

To contact a Wildlife rehabber: Google your states Department of Fish and Game or you can go with the Federal Department of Fish and Wildlife. Fish and Game or the Wildlife Rehabber will be able to tell you if it is legal to keep a Raven. Here in Cali. it is illegal to have native wildlife without state and federal permits. I would assume it is the same where you are since Ravens are federally protected. But you know what assume means hehehe. The wildlife rehab will be able to mend any fractures and determine if the bird is releasable. The sooner the better, their bones heal at a much faster rate them a mammals. 1/2 to 3/4 healed at the end of the first week and fully healed at the end of 2 weeks.

OK, I suppose if you can prove ownership then you can sue for damages. But...why not tell him, once he's back, what happened and ask him to replace the window first. And, I would take the poor thing to the vet and get him some help...and I'd give the bill to the owner too.

I don't know if it's normal for them to own wild birds and as far as I know there isn't any code against it (check with your town etc).

I would either call a wildlife rescue or the humane society. This bird needs medical intervention. Until someone comes, keep the bird warm and make sure it has water. They will tell you what else you can do.

we've had a couple birds fly into our windows, once, while my mom was working on the computer with the shades closed, a bird flew into the window and died.my mom felt so bad.once, when a kid was walking by and my mom thought he threw a baseball at the window! but it was a bird which then was dead. and once, a wild cat wanted us to give it food,so it kept killing birds and putting them on our porch in front of the door like an offering! you could try keeping your windows dirty but i dont think thats so smart.didnt the animal agency restore the bird to health?
