Whether you're Mormon, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, JW, or anything else, abstinance before marriage is an essential belief. Sex is a holy institution ordained by God. "Multiply, and Replenish the earth".
To masturbate, or to participate in pornography, or to have sexual relations outside of matrimony is in some form or another making a mockery of the sacred institution that God gave to man. Catholics, Protestants, JW's, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Sikkhs, and just about every other religion teaches that this is wrong.
I don't know, maybe Mormons are just more vocal about living a belief that all religions share.

Your Answer : First of all I am not religious in any way. My reason for answering however, is not to steer you in any direction in an answer. The relationship of nature, and its goals has little to do with a man made book. Not just of your religion, but of any religious sector. Trying to make 20th century sense out of a book written in a time long since past seems to defy all logic. It is very doubtful that your meaning was what was actually meant by this. You are correct in the line of thinking that it is anti-sex. I know of no religious groups that honor it in any way. To make matters even worse I could not recommend sex with a stranger over masturbation in any context. One is 100 percent safe from STD’s and the other one could kill or cause you a great many years of pain and suffering. Trying to relate a modern day set of circumstances to a book written before the understanding of STD’s or their cause is the biggest error in all this that I can see for you. Naturally for some people the thought of having someone else or something else rule their behavior has a certain appeal. But this being the modern day and knowing what we know today none of us would ever suggest that the earth is still flat. I accordance with my initial quest to provide the best answer while maintaining a none religious attribute to my answer I recommend keeping good health and since we know that masturbation is not only good for us be in fact required for good health than I would suspect that these facts alone would be well within reason of the people who wrote the book hundreds of years past. Technology and our understanding of the world has changed over time. The book you reference has not, and their in lies the problem to what you are trying to understand. What would be needed is a new book. A version 200 or 300. Since this is not likely then you must strive to answer some of those questions yourself in some logical way. I am sure the book did not want to hurt you in any way, and since not masturbating does exactly that to your development then it stands clear that it was not the intent hundreds of years ago. Does that sound right ?

I'm not Mormon , but I'll tell my personal opinion.
I don't like feeling like I have to do anything unless it's necessary to survive.
Sex it self is different since it's for the survival of the human race.
