Your parents just don't want you to do it for some reason, as they are just making excuses. We don't let our daughter do it anymore because she always made a mess. Ask them what the real reason is that they don't want you to get highlights.

I stay with a hair stylist. it received't influence your hair very a lot except you many times spotlight/dye your hair. it is going to fry your hair in case you dye it some situations yet not if that's purely highlights and also you do not plan on demise/highlighting your hair interior of about yet another month yet i'd wait a minimum of three months earlier getting extra highlights.once you've those days gotten a perm, many times straighten your hair, have not gotten a trim for a lengthy time period, etc. do not get highlights. Your hair will practice terrible and unsightly. do not use the affordable stuff. Get it professionally done. Doing it your self/the affordable way will fry your hair and frequently it is going to practice to be a very diverse coloration then you genuinely planned on or needed it to be. i wish i turned right into a help :)

Go to a hair dresser who knows what they're doing. Perhaps someone you know has been to the same place and they had good results. I've never heard of hair falling out from highlights.
The effects are: it looks GREAT (!!!) to have highlights. Or even lowlights on your hair. Depending what color hair you have. Highlights and lowlights come in a lot of colors and hues.
Just make sure you condition your hair regularly.

Any treatment w/chemicals is traumatic for hair, but because when you highlight you're only doing a few strands, it is not that bad. It's less traumatic than say getting a perm or using heat to style it daily. You just have to use stronger conditioners and weekly deep conditioners to pamper your hair after you highlight it, so go ahead, get some highlights!!

If you use a highlight with some kind of hair lightener, it will damage your hair. You need to use really good conditioners to counteract this. You can also use paint-on highlights that are temporary and wash out and these won't hurt your hair.

HIghlights are great but to keep it maintained you gotta go back and get the roots done every 2 months or so.
After a few times your hair can get dried out so conditioners are good to use for your hair and their are some pre hair gels to apply onto your hair before blow drying.
Eventually, you gotta give your hair a rest and color it back to your natural hair and let the natural hair grow out.
Plus its pricey to do this all the time.

My hair has been highlighted continually for the last 20 years. My hair hasn't fallen out yet, and my hair is soft. I would recommend that if you do it yourself, you need to follow the directions closely and have somebody put the color in my hair. I usually color mine, and people ask me where I get my hair done. I use Garnier Nourtrisse (sp?)

Well I have highlights in my hair and I find that the most split ends are in the highlights, so you get split ends.

Some time your hair can break off at the end but if you condition it every two week that there's no real damage.
