You know people who are afraid to try new things will always have something negative to say about things considered racey such as piercings.
You shouldn't let their negativity effect how you feel and think about something you want to do.Opinions are like buttholes everyone has one some are clean and some are dirty.
But just remember opinions are also a person's way to express themselves just because they aren't willing to try something new doesn't make them stupid it makes them afraid....

I have 26 piercings and they are for me. I like how they look, I like the piercing process itself.

What you need to remember is that you posted a question in an open and public forum. People are going to respond whether you really like it or not. If the comments are overly harsh, you can report them, but all in all, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. And just because its different, doesn't mean its wrong; its a matter of personal taste.

Do your best to ignore the comments because if you spend too much time worrying about it, you'll be stressed and unhappy. Do what you want and don't worry about others.

Most people who are against piercings come from very conventional, conservative families, so it's not a question of their intellect, it's just personal preference. I've gotten a ton of facial piercings in the past and there would always be peopled who hated on it, and there always will be. I took them out because it is much easier to go about everyday life without them.

Piercings will hinder your career, as most places will not hire someone with visible facial piercings or visible tattoos. They can become infected and cause other problems, so some people think it's a dumb idea to get them. People will say a lot of things against piercings, but remember that a lot of other people have good things to say about them too.

It's just a matter of what you want to think.

Because society in general doesn't do well with accepting what they consider out of the "norm". I am both tattooed and pierced and I did it for me, no one else. I don't apologize to anyone because of choices that I've made and I do feel that it is a form of individuality. I'm a very firm believer that everyone has a right to look the way they choose to without being judged because of it. I, myself have run into the stereotyping because of the tattoos and piercings. I live by the rule that if someone wants to judge me by them without the benefit of first finding out what kind of person I am or what I'm all about, then that's their problem, not mine. Many have missed the opportunity of reading a great novel by only judging the book by the cover. Their loss!

I personally don't find lip piercings attractive on women. I think nose looks cute on some. However, if thats you than that's cool. Nothing wrong with piercing. I have 5 myself. I think it is a way to express yourself and show who you are. It's an individual thing like tattoos.

i personally don't care for piercings. some people may look alright with them, but i don't find them attractive. i won't say it destroys your body, because of course you can take them out. big deal...i wouldn't get any sort of piercing, and really would've preferred if my parents didn't pierce my ears at 3 months of age. if it's what you feel you want to do, then do it, don't listen to what others think.

some people believe it is their duty in life to critcize anything and everything.
if body piercing is not your thing, accept it but don't belittle my FREEDOM of choice to have them. i have 17; all covered up by clothing. i'm pro piercing and if i wasn't, it's not my business to tell other people how to use their body.

devote your energies to something constructive like working to bring our soldiers home from iraq. criticize the person who prolongs this war, not the person who opts for a piercing.
