I don't mean 'love thy neighbot' etc. etc. but to tolerate beliefs that are against God. Should we tolerate sin and unbelief?
I mean in our personal lives, not political life.

It doesn't. But it also says, "Who am I to judge outsiders? Are we not to judge those within the Church?" (referring to necessary accountability among Believers). There's a fine line between not tolerating sin and being a persecutor of non-believers. Jesus came as an example. He did not tolerate, and He did not condemn. We should do the same and not mis-represent Him.

Sometimes with some people and some behaviors and some beliefs we just have to be tolerant like Israel was with the people of Jericho after they marched around the city for seven days. Remember that story? Now that is an example of tolerance and respect if I ever did see tolerance. Or maybe I missed part of the story. I better read it again just to be clear. If someone believes something we should respect them and their beliefs. I guess I am just not helpful. Maybe I should try to be more helpful and more tolerant and more respectful. That's it. Being tolerant is the key to happiness. Now I get it. One question, please oh great very intelligent one. Is there any behavior that I should not be tolerant of? Or should I be tolerant of just some behaviors and not others? Should I be respectful of all beliefs? Are you sure about all this? Because it sounds sort of weird to me. Must just be me not being helpful and all.

Tolerance is an integral component of Love. Those who are intolerant do not love. A closely related divine principle is Personal Responsibility. We should rather mind our own business and allow everyone else the freedom to decide for himself.

God gave each of us Free Will. He does not impose His views or forces us to think and act against our better judgment. Instead, He teaches and guides us by way of our personal experiences so that we may know His mind – what is right and true. In so learning, then we will prefer to think as God thinks and act accordingly in every way.

It does not say this anywhere in the Bible,as a matter of fact it tells us to speak against other beliefs if it opposes Christ,do so lovingly though as it says.God tells us no we should never tolerate sin,we are all guilty,be careful because we interpret the word differently than our nieghbor at times. There are some things I tolerate but dont actually believe in it,or it may be sinful or may not.Taking Gods name in vain is my biggest pet peeve we all know that wont fly.

We are to keep our personal life in check. If a person doesn't want to accept Christ then we can't force them. We can help point someone in the right direction, but if they don't want to go we can't make them. What else can we do but tolerate.

Living our lives as a good Christian in every aspect may often be just what an unbeliever needs to see in order to make the right choice. If we bear down to hard on people we push them right into the very thing we are trying to stear them away from.

We love the sinner but not the sin. No we never tolerate sin but as for unbelief we want to keep open to maybe lead them to Christ.

It doesnt. In fact quite the opposite.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. -Romans 12:9

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. -2 Corinthians 10:5

Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. -James 4:4

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. -1 Corinthians 10:21

What do you mean by tolerate? Jesus hung out with sinners but he let them know that their sins were separating them from God and that they needed to repent. Once they repent then God would forgive them.

I'm comfortable around the gay people I know and even like them as friends but I would not hesitate to tell them that I think the decision that they make will alienate them from the Creator. Still God gave them choice and I would not try to bully them out of God's greatest gift, choice.

Tolerance can be used differently from the rights of other people to practice their own faith. To allow people to run your life and reduce your dignity to less than human can also be called tolerance. But to respect the rights of other people to believe in their own faith and allowing them to live according to what their conscience dictates them and in return will do the the same thing to you is called "acceptance".
Just because their belief is different from yours does not make them sinners. In your personal life, use that word for the right understanding.
