Hi there. Though the exact nature of this effect catnip is not fully understood, some cats get and aphrodisiac type of effect while others are not affected at all. Here is an article you might enjoy on the subject. http://www.zapgraphix.com/articles_0003.html Have a purrfect year.

Let's see...
My cat, Phoebe, walks around like she is drunk and has a tendency to close her eyes while walking, which causes her to run into walls...
Myparents have four cats. Ashley, the eldest, is usually violent, but she gets so lovable while on catnip. Mimi, the second oldest, gets somewhat violent. She doesnt like the other cats getting near her. Lola, the fattest cat, actually starts working out and being playful instead of a couch potato. Sammy, the only boy cat, although he is fixed, he walks up to the other girls and starts grooming them and purring, getting real affectionate with the other cats but avoiding the humans.

Cats react very differently to this stuff. One of my cats couldn't care less about it. He generally sniffs it and then looks at me expectantly for a treat he likes. However my other cat goes nuts! He rolls on his back and grabs at ankles and once tried to open is mouth as wide as possible and put my entire heel into it. It didn't fit, but he sure tried. Apparently only 2/3 of cats react to it, and for some reason, kittens don't react until they are older. Sometimes they are even repulsed by it. The good news? It is lots of fun and non-addictive. So enjoy it!

Completely normal! Cats have a tendency to go wild over catnip, and have been know to act drunk or crazy after sniffing it for a bit. Don't worry! My cat races around the house like he's mad, rolls around in the stuff and scatters it around the room!

Yes, both my cats love the stuff. They love to eat it and roll around on it, then go bonkers and start swatting at each other and swatting at invisible objects. They have an excellent time!
