I am not certain but I believe that it could be related to a NIC or some type of network access, because the network is being searched for the active attached drives and network folders in the "save as" box.

Also any application that accesses the file browse window from within the application, such as, "create new" will also exhibit the same problem.

It does not happen if access to the network areas or folders are done through "Windows Explorer".

This problem can last for a few minutes and then "just go away" or it can last for hours and possible days" It does not seem to be vendor application specific, and does not seem to be user specific. There is only one user assigned to the PC and that user is set to administrative privlidges. We have also tried returning to previous restore points - no luck.

Whatever program you were running blew. Reboot is the best solution.
