I don't think they are close to the Roman church. They have many readings and rituals but all can receive communion.

Lutheran is closer to Roman Catholicism than Methodism.

We do,sometimes though it's rare, recite the Nicene Creed. We more often repeat the Apostle's creed. We do not believe that the bread and wine of the communion become the actual flesh and blood of Christ, that the sacraments are only symbols of the actual. We do not believe that water baptism saves one's soul, that only the baptism of the Holy Spirit can do that. Methodism mostly stands for methodical. We are very 'methody' when it comes to worship style which has its good and bad points. LOL, of course if churches were perfect, none of us could attend!
