How do you know if you are light skin?

I know this is a dumb question but i am confuse. People say that i am light skin but i do not think so. Can you show me a picture of a light skin person for i can know if i am light skin or not. Please

It's all relative. It depends on your ethnicity. If you are White, then you would compare yourself to other Whites to determine if you are light or dark complected.

If you are African American, then you would compare yourself to other African Americans.

Within most ethnic groups there are various shades of lightness and darkness, and typically your know what most people consider to be light or dark within that group.

I guess you start with what you consider to be average complexion within a certain ethnic group (White, Asian, etc.), and then anything lighter than that would be lighter skinned and any thing darker than that would be darker skinned.

This question is very odd. However, being African American, I have realized that most people have different definitions of what being "light skinned" is. In my personal opinion, light skin is different for different nationalities. There is a light skin for blacks, hispanics,Indians, etc. As far my definition of light skinned, It would be someone that looks like Alicia Keyes, Beyonce, etc. There are millions of examples but it just depends on the person. Either way, its not a bad thing, if you are light skinned or not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It isn't really hard to determine your skin tone. I have very light skin tone. Just look into a mirror. Is your skin tone Ivory? A little
darker would still be light. If people say you have light skin then most likely you do.

Take the brown bag test. If you're lighter than a paper grocery bag, you're considered light skinned.
