The work of Norman Rockwell is not understood by much of the general public. His work though tongue in cheek politically is strangely enough accepted by the general public. The person who comes to mind to meet these requirements would be an artist named Mark Sisson. He is a woodcut printmaker working at Oklahoma State University. His work is hard to find on-line, but he has been published in some books. You can go to the OSU website and find his e-mail address. He is still the professor of printmaking as well as drawing. Take a look at his work. You will probably like what you see.

The more famous ones would be Thomas Hart Benton, Edward Hopper and George Bellows. The early works of John Murin would also fit into this regionalist, Americana class.
