My hair is naturally dirty blonde and I have been using henna to color it red for about two years. My roots are starting to grow out and now I want to go back to my natural color and lighten it and/or add highlights. What can I safely use on my hair to lighten it when the henna hasn't faded all the way out yet?

It depends if you have been using natural hemma with no other chemicals in it. Henna is pretty much a permanent color, but it is plant based. I use henna on my hands and when I want to get rid of the last of an old, faded design i soak my hand in plain disinfecting peroxide to lighten the stain.

I am not sure what that would do to your hair, but you could try a patch test and see, I don't think that I would use any chemical lighteners without checking with a professional that can actually look at your hair and decide what's best.
