With leap year calendars, and new years starting on different days in different parts of the world, (like the chinese new year starting on Feb 18, 2007 this year), how can we be so sure that we are actually on the correct day of the week? If not, why do Christians put such an importance on Sunday, if they cannot be sure that it is the actual day of the week that God said to rest on? Is Sunday more of a symbolic thing to Christians?

let me tell you many christian practices come from pagan cultures or religions. the days of the week have their meanings in gods for example. sun-day was the day dedicated to the god "sun" and when the greek and the christian got together the christianism adopted several of these practices. monday is in spanish lunes day of the moon. moon-day monday, tuesday- is the day of the god mars god of the war. martes( which means mars) wednesday miercoles) was named for the fierce Norse God. thursday (jueves) dedicated to the god Jupiter. friday or viernes in spanish was dedicated to the goddess venus goddess of love and procreation. saturday was for god saturn or the planet. since most of the gods had something to do with the planets becuase they were the stars that shinyed the most at night. therefore, as christians we have these names. for the days of the week. and the day that God let to rest is not a specific day with a name it is a day to dedicate to him does not matter when just leave it to him.

So, does it mean because Chinese start new years on Feb 18 which happens to be a Sunday that because the US started Jan 01 which happens to be on a Monday that it wasn't 01/01/2007 Monday in China and the USA, or that it wasn't Sun 02/18/07 in the USA as it was in China? (excluding the time zone difference)

See. If you are a believer in God, then it should not matter what day of the week it is.
What people don't understand about "the church" is that it is not an actual building! The church is where two or more are gathered, in his name, there he will be in the midst. It doesnt matter whether it be a coffee shop on wednesday or the beach on saturday.... If they speak of God then that is the church.

I do not follow organized religions. I'm am strictly spiritual. I believe in a God of my own understanding... that's it. I LIVE LAUGH and LOVE.

i dont knw bout that but to mean you should worship God everyday of the week. i go to church on sunday n ideally there shud be at least one day of the week devoted to God. most ppl jus choose Sunday because its the start of the week n they want to start the week off right. that's just what i think.
