Not if it's a closed tank. Some of my cats love watching the fish, others find them boring! The fish don't seem to mind watching the cats either!

My cats aren't interested in my fish tank, but they love to stalk the gerbils! The gerbils don't seem to feel threatened - they stand up on their hind legs to get a better look at the cats. I make sure to keep the lid securely fastened to the tank. I did not get the gerbils for the entertainment of the cats. I would not get any pets for the entertainment of the cats. I do think it's a good idea to keep 2 cats, so that they can entertain one another. It's also a good idea to get them both from the same litter, so that they know one another. It can be tricky to introduce a new cat to an established cat.

It is fine. Just keep a lid on the tank. My cats were interested when I first got fish, but soon, they got bored. Now the only time they go around the tank is when I am feeding the fish so they can get some fish food. They DO love it.

That's a great idea. Just make sure you have a lid on the tank that the cat can't knock off. My cat would probably love to watch fish swimming around. She's amazed by watching the computer mouse cursor move around.

LOL, nope we did it for x-mass. We did not think the fish would last but we moved up to a 10 gal. tank. This morning the cats were sitting on the chair just looking at the fish swim around. Later in the day Boo jumped on the chair hung his head on the arm and just look. His eyes followed the fish. It was funny.

It's a great idea. Just make sure she can't fall in it or knock it off of the stand. My one cat loves my fish tank and I think it's good for him. :)

Well, maybe one or two bluegill, but that would be it. If you want catfish you could probably just put one catfish with one bluegill. But then again, I'm not an expert on pond fish. Anyway, since it sounds like you are kind of new to aquarium keeping, make sure you cycle the tank :)
