The ostrich has always been considered the largest of the Bird family, But recently an emu that was being sent to a zoo took the doubtful honor of being the largest bird in captivity. From ground to top of its back it was 7.6 feet and to the op of its head 10' 1"

The largest bird is the Antarctic Dominion Penguin. It is flightless but stands about 5 1/2 feet tall and weighs in at 125 lbs when fully grown. They have a life span of around 60 years.

I think, the Andean Condor is the world's biggest flying bird with a wingspan of 3 meters! (10 feet) but i think the largest bird is the ostrich, even though it cant fly.
