Some of these answers frighten me!
'Safe' drinking is 21 units a week - not a night. A pint is 2 units, a short or glass on wine is 1 unit. So, 10.5 pints a week (21 glasses of wine). This is on a long-term basis, so the ocassional spree will not hurt. But 4/5 pints in a session is a sensible limit.

If you drink everyday that is a problem. I have a few drinks usually one night a week but I do always have wine and will have a glass randomly throughout the week. As long as you are in control of your life you will be fine.

I think that if you like to drink then that is your thing. As long as you are not hurting anyone (including your self) Then I think you will be alright. If you can not think or function then you will know that you have had to much to drink.
