Atheists say there are no supernatural beings ... i.e. no God.
Christians say that God is the source of everything. The point of the argument is that Christians are trying to instill their point of view in schools, abandoning science for a literal interpretation of scripture.
Science (And Atheism) say that we should teach what can be proved through science as fact. The rest should be relegated to schools which teach religion as a basis of belief. It doesn't belong in public schools.
Fundamentalist Christians try to say that this country should have a legal and moral system based on Biblical principles, outlawing gay marriage, abortion, homosexuality, and anything else the Bible prohibits.
Athiest point to the fact that the founding fathers didn't intend a church-state. Things such as the Treaty with Tripoli, signed by George Washington state emphatically that this is NOT a Christian nation.
Still, the civil war wages, and neither side will remain silent, and, perhaps that's what democracy is about.

I think both Christians and Atheist would agree that Einstein was right in his famous formula energy is equal to mass times the speed of light squared. The second law of thermal dynamics agrees with the Bible when it says that matter can not be created or destroyed. God created all the matter in the beginning, and rested from His creating.
The first spoken words of God recorded are "Let there be light". That phrase covers more than just visible light, but a whole range of photon energy.
Before someone knocks the Bible, maybe they should first read it.

It is not correct to say that there is only energy; there is obviously mass as well, and probably some things that we don't understand yet that are keeping the astronomers up very late at night. But there is nothing here which has anything to do with god, and it is a waste of time to suppose otherwise.

Dude people just like aruguing for the sake of it. Ignorance is the biggest problem on both sides of the argument. But the true answer can be found by rationally thinking about it. If there is god then he must of created everything including energy, simple

The universe consists, as I understand, of matter and energy. But both matter and energy as such are completely void of life, consciousness, intelligence, or purpose. So comparing energy to a "god" is crap. There is no god, and no other "purpose" in the universe.

I don't think you have a good understanding of what atheism is.
Atheists do not have any beliefs in any god(s). Therefore any person claiming energy as a god cannot be an atheist by definition.

GOD is the god, the supremo of universe.
We still are in the process of describing GOD just like the six blind men described an elephant. Some of us describe as LOVE, some as truth and again some as LIFE.
To understand GOD we need to look with a much wider view.

That's llike saying "2 = 2" and "2 = 2," which is the better argument? If something equals something, that's not two arguments, just a statement.

I'm an atheist, and I say there is both energy and information, just no evidence of an underlying personality.
