Canada, higher standards of heath care, education and living all around.

If you have more socially liberal values then definitely Canada.

The Canadian economy is booming, industry is diversifying which results in a lower unemployment rate. The housing market is not crumbling as it is in the USA.

Canada. I visited Disneyland between Christmas & New Years and I felt unimportant in this world. There I was just another body. Another ant in the ant pile. One of the Millions of people in Los Angeles. I choked on the smog. Here, where there is clear air, clean water, I know my neighbors and I can count on them helping me anytime. Crime is low. Our province (Saskatchewan) is huge and we have less then a million people! Lots of lakes and trees in the North and flat farm land in the South. And I don't mind the cold. It hits real cold for about 2 weeks of the winter. And you only notice the cold when you are outside! Most of your day is spent at home or at work. And what better way to wait out the cold is to nestle up beside your loved one, in front of the fire, reading a good book or watching a good movie. And the other days, go join in a shimmy of hockey or sled down a snowhill or jump on your snowmobile and enjoy the beauty of winter. I work in the tourist industry and we welcome anyone from the US and try and make them feel welcome. I find some US citizens very ignorant of us Canadians and don't know much about us, some don't even know our provinces. We don't live in Igloos and we may be closer to the artic but that doesn't mean we are the artic! When we tell them we are bigger than the US, they laugh and think we are lying. American children and those immagrating to US have been brought up to think "You Can Do Anything You Want To" but that isn't true. Inflated egos, that is probably the reason they aren't liked by other nations. The "American Dream" is beyond most people and it makes the majority feel they are a failure. We teach our children to respect others, Do your best, and appreciate what you have. We want our children to have lots of self esteem but to be humble as well. And I think that is why Canada is a better place to live...we respect others, we try hard to improve our lives each day and we appreciate all that we have.

Being that I live in Canada, I will obviously choose Canada. Our cultures may be similar, but not quite the same. Land wise we're much larger and, with 10% of the population of the US, we have nice wide open, less congested spaces.

What gets me is the lack of knowledge about our country. Like the guys above me: too cold? Its just as friggin cold in the northern states. How much snow have they got in Colorado and New York lately. About 6 feet less than what we have in southen Ontario. Current temp in Green Bay: -12 C. Bismarck ND: -10C, Northern Michigan: -12C. Here in Southern Ontario, its -7C.

neither. If you are serious about relocation, consider Australia. Friendly poeple, wide open spaces, warmth, opportunity, fresh seafood, good wine, great beer. On the liberal-conservative scale, they are a touch liberal, more like Canada, but on the overall life style, they are definately laid back and living in the 1960's. There is no comparison- Australia is better than both Canada and the US.

so did i. i am a us born citizen moved to canada. not the usa. trust me. looks like it but there are sharp difference in attitudes, mores and cultural. ideals.

for the usa start at www.usa.gov tons of good FREE faq. www.ed.gov see international students, foreign trained

and for canada

www.international.gc.ca

i now fully understand why so many people literally die trying to get into the usa.

people i can say without a doubt my ex husband and many friends came from far flung nations. they are far happier and more successful than like immigrants in canada. you have to claw to get a job. even the highly educated.

i started yahoo group for this. go to www.yahoo.ca and type in educated immigrants. lots of new stories about no one wanting to hire them. even if you have a degree from the usa. the unions control who gets what jobs there.

it is more expensive, medical is not all free. they do not even pay for dental or most phsy therapy. they are nice unless you immigrate there.

americans are more likely to help you get help if you need it. IF YOU are LEGAL... sorry mr mexico.

Canada hands down. I have nothing against the American people. I was born and raised here, so my choice is obvious.

Canada is the liberal version of the U.S. So if you're a liberal, you should be there! Gay marriages are allowed.
