Yes it is because it show's the guy or girl is smart. But also it would be cool to say something about everything you see int eh museum, like did you know this happened in ... and so on. But after the museum take a walk and talk to each other and get to know about each other, too.

great first date... gives you plenty of time to talk, plenty to talk about and the opportunity to feel out if you are good companions which is the most important
