Had a service at a nationwide service provider and amongst orther things I asked for the Auto gearbox oil to be changed. Since then the gear box will not stay in gear and keeps dropping back to third gear where it stays regardless of how you operate the gear lever. If I stop the engine and start again it returns to the normal 4 gear operation for about ten minutes, if you are lucky. With such a flexable and quiet engine it is hard to know when it locks up if you are traveling below 40mph but should you attempt a manovour at a junction on a hill you have no power to the wheels because of slip within the gearbox. How do I solve the problem. The main agents cannot say what the problem is. Has anyone else had this problem.

hi,i own a repair shop, and i have seen this happen before,on this and many other vehicles,i think they knocked a wire loose in side the transmission, that helps it staying gear, what I'm want to say i think they might have messed your transmission up on it,from what you told me ,it was fine before ,and now it isn't,so id be getting in contact with them, and letting them know ,or id contact a lawyer first, either way i think they could be held liable or responsible for this, because i have changed a lot of fluid and filter on transmissions, and never had one go out after i did this, but now your going to be out the cost of repair on this one,get in touch with them, and see what they say about it,this wont be the first time this has happened at one of those places, and probably wont be the last either, good luck,i hope this help,s.

I like the first answer. But... check with dealer to see if they use a special fluid in your car. And go after the national chain.
