Eat a peanut butter sandwich
Foods high in fat (peanutbutter) increase endorphins and make you happy. Endorphins are opiate-like chemicals that are the “feel good” neurotransmitters. Carbohydrates (bread) make you calm and relaxed. Protein (peanutbutter) keeps you alert.

This issue is not uncommon especially in light of the seasons and time of year. I feel depressed from time to time. Ive lived alone a long time by choice but being human it has its repercussions.
Chat rooms do seem to help keep you in touch with other entities and you hear voices laughing, talking, sharing, etc, etc. I don't know why your feeling depressed but all I can assume is... Its self inflicted. Meaning you are not able to reach out to others as easy as you would like? That's why I suggest chat rooms. They will give you some ambiguous but yet make connections.
PS, doesn't hurt to have a cat or dog. Perhaps Church, volunteer work at hospitals and nursing homes. Start a brunch club in your local area creating a chapter of specific groups. Perhaps veterans or the disabled. Lots of good ideas out there. First and foremost however is to get out of that slump and pick up the phone or mouse and get started.
Good luck

Adjust your attitude!
Seriously - make a conscious effort to think positive thoughts - Read some inspirational quotes - see the link below
If you are spiritual, pray or meditate.
Don't discount the benefit of exercise. If you get moving you will feel better in just a few minutes. And if you find an activity you like you'll WANT to do it often.
You are important. Your life is worthwhile. You CAN overcome the feelings you are having. If you feel overwhelmed, TALK to someone. When you reach out, you will find the people who care about you.

Depression can be caused by not enough seratonin in the brain. One way to help is to eat chocolate! But seriously if you are cutting, you need to seek some long term help. There are a lot of good drugs out there that can help. Good luck.

Keep busy doing active things. Drawing, writing, dancing, walking, playing with pets, talking to friends, stuff like that. Soon, you might want to get some professional help and possibly some antidepressants if you need them.

Get up and start dancing! Or start singing a silly song- turn on the radio and clean your house. I always feel better after I've done something productive or bake something... Just get up and do anything right now- sitting and wallowing never made anyone feel better!!!
