When you go to enroll him in the school, tell them about his special needs. They will also get records from his previous school. They will hold a meeting with you and your husband to make him an IEP (Individual Education Plan). This plan tells what his special needs are and will have you all make reachable goals for him. You will have several of these meetings through out the year. Just because he is dyslexic, doesn't mean he will be put in special ed. classrooms. It will depend on the severity of the dyslexia. He can be put in a regular classroom. He will most likely have to be taken out of class a few times a week to meet with the speech therapist and have therapy. Keep all lines of communication open with his teacher and the therapist. I hope that this helps and I wish you and him the very best!!!

Make sure you have his school records transfered with him.

Depending on how severe his learning disablity is, he made have a 504 plan or an IEP. Both documents give the school and teachers special instructions on how to help him learn. If he doesn't already have one, ask the new school to evaluate him and have a conference to see if he would benifit from having one.

Its likely he will be "mainstreamed" (kept in a class with the same aged kids) if at all possible. The school might give him some tutoring to help him.

Ask them what programs they offer to help him, any tools they suggest he will need, and what you can do at home to help him. They will typically have a plan in place that lists out what types of assistance he will recieve in school. They will go over it with you and make any changes you feel are neccessary. It will be reviewed once a year.

Typically it is extra time for tests and assistance with reading, writing, and/or note taking. They will probably put him in a regular classroom.

they will go by where he was in the other school and prolly put in a regular class but take him out for special reading and speech. Call the school nearest you and ask to talk to a person in charge of disabled children. then take it from there.

your son would probably end up in SPECIAL ED program (its for people who have disabilities---ask them about it)... There are many types of learning disability and they all go to the special ed program., and the special ed program customizes a program for a child that would fit them and what they need to improve or need assistance for....

you don't have to physically be disabled to be in the program...when a child has difficulty compared to average students then they would customize something to help your child catch up... usually when a child is in special ed class they would get an adult to supervise them on what they may need help on or sometimes they would have classes specifically for people who needs help reading...writing and etc..

ask about it at school and ask on how your child's situation would affect on how his program will be and how they would cope with his disability...
