Having a culture examined is the only way to know for sure.
If you've had it for a while and you are getting better, you most likely have viral, if you are not getting better within a week you most likely have bacterial. That knowledge comes from personal experience with both bacterial and viral bronchitis.
If you are worried about going around someone else, afraid you'll catch it from them or give it to them, then you are best not to go around them if they do not know which type they or you have.
If you have it, I hope you get well soon, but if not better in a week, you are best to see a doctor and get a culture done, as viral bronchitis isn't helped by antibiotics, whereas bacterial bronchitis is helped by antibiotics. I feel for you, because I have bronchitis right now as well, caused I'm sure by the poor air quality for weeks here in Utah where I live.

Do sputum culture,if positive for bacteria,that is bacterial. bronchitis.
