why's it gotta be DIET coke?

Question

okay so for anyone out there who knows of the diet coke and mentos trick, where you put 4 mentos in a 2 liter of diet coke, this is for you. Does it really HAVE to be DIET coke? why does everyone use diet coke instead of regular coke? does diet coke have something special that regular coke doesnt, which makes the coke erupt from the bottle?

It's regular coke that has something diet coke doesn't: SUGAR. Apart from that they are pretty identical, the trick should work with both. I saw it on the telly with another cola, not coke, but not diet.
By the way, I wonder why coke makes so many TV commercials for "coke light" just before they change the name to "zero coke"............

diet coke has more carbonation and this substance that is more fizzy. Also less people drink diet coke so then u would be wasting a perfectly good regular coke. If u use diet no one cares

This was on Myth Busters, I didnt see it all be the diet coke had the greatest effect. They were trying to figure out the chemical that actually causes that effect.

experiment--try it with diet coke and regular coke
aww heck really be adventurous--try it with coke with a hint of lime and vanilla coke

Shugar has a reaction with nutrasweete, which is at least part of the reeson for nedeing diet and not regalar coke

My son did it but he only used diet so im not sure if it works with any others. Im sure Myth Busters will try with other different drinks!!!
