I have downloaded few files from rapidshare.com, they are in format of .rar and they are numbered as part01.rar, part02.rar and so on till part45.rar.

But now problem is I don't know how to join those files. Can anyone of you please help me with this. Each file is of 95MB, if you join them they are supposed to be around 3+ GB.

You can join them using WinRAR. From this page:

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Under the heading English WinRAR and RAR Release, click the WinRAR 3.62 link to download the setup file. Double-click the setup file after it downloads to install the software.

Once it's installed, make sure all the .rar files you want to join are in the same directory. Then, double-click the first one; WinRAR should open and show you the compressed file part. Click to highlight it, then click the Extract To icon, choose a directory to extract the file to, then click OK. It should then extract the entire file, automatically joining all the parts from the other .rar files.

You don't join them so to speak. You wait until you have all of the rar files together, and then you open one of them, and select the file to uncompress. Typically, the file to uncompress is part1.rar, of if the rar files go in order, like r00, r01, r02, ..., rnn, rar, then you open up the *.rar file.

RAR files are great because they easily split into multiple parts, and during the days of dial up, without being able to resume files often, it was easier to lose a 15MB download instead of losing a 3GB download.

Good luck!

Just extract the first in the split rar files to your location and winrar will automatically do the rest.

One extra tip for this question: I found that although my 'alternative' extraction program would not recognise the files as part01.rar part02.rar etc., if I renamed them to .r00 .r01 .r02 and so on (with the same filename stem), it would. This saved me installing yet-another program on my already-overloaded computer!
