How can I help right now?

Question

not something that involves money but how can i make a difference right now and how can I have people help!?not his day but this day or week?

You can start by becoming active in your local community. I would suggest volunteering. I've been working with my local volunteer center for a while, leading a wide array of projects. I have projects where we tutor children at the local library, help visitors at a local museum, play games with kids at the local children's shelter, and package food for the needy at the local food bank.

There's a lot of stuff that you can do, and it doesn't require a large time commitment or ongoing commitment at all. Your local volunteer center can help you find one-time, short-term, or even long-term volunteer opportunities where you can help.

In a reasonably big town, there are usually plenty of places that would take your help. Is there a shelter for abused women where you live? Some shelters have re-sale stores that benefit the victims and take volunteers. What about the local shelter for stray animals? If you have no luck with those, call the American Red Cross. As far as I know, they have a whole staff of people who place people who want to volunteer. Good luck!

You can give blood. That's a great way to help people, it doesn't really cost you anything...plus you get a great feeling knowing you may have helped save a life! I do it all the time...the needle part is always not pleasant but certainly the good I'm doing outweighs a little "stick in the arm."

If 10% of the average $907 that Americans spent on Christmas gifts went to children in need, 42 million children could be helped for an entire year according to statistics provided to me during an interview with World Vision.

This year, I conducted an experiment, and asked for donations to World Vision and Heifer.org instead of Christmas gifts. Many folks simply chose to give me gifts anyway, but many did make donations instead, resulting in $137 going to these charities.

I also have a website where I sell art to support these two Christian organizations. The next time you need art for your walls, please consider my website. My personal favorite of my own work is Sunset over Florence12. Recently my aunt (an amateur photographer) and a friend have donated some of their work for this charitable cause, as well.
