A retainer is just as it's named, it retains or holds a position, teeth in this case. Sorry but you might need orthodontics to close spaces, check out Invisalign or ask your dentist for his advise to correct this problem. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

A retainer can or braces can. Depending on your age and which teeth were extracted there are many different options to ways to close the gaps. If it was a permanent tooth that was extracted and is wasn't for spacing issues you might want to look at the possibility of an implant. Check with your dentist.

Braces might work, but you would have to talk to your dentist/orthodontist. A retainer would not work, however. Retainers are used to retain the teeth's positions, not move them. Thus the name... retainer.
