i have a cat and he's about 3 yrs old and he nurses on my shirt and gets his paws and looks like he's massageing me, i dont know if he was taken away from his mom when he was young and thinks i'm his mom (i'm only 12) i love it when he does it though cause it relaxes me and him! he has water and all so hes not thirsty or anything like that, he might just be doing it for comfort or it might be a habbit cause he's done it all his life!

It is a comfort activity for him. When kittens are young they knead their mothers for milk and they get fed, which brings them much satisfaction. When a cat kneads their owner this way, it means they are content, happy to be with you and at ease. Take it as a high compliment.

Why does a cat "knead" or "make biscuits"?

When a kitten is nursing, it typically kneads its paws against its mother, either as a sign of contentment or to encourage the milk flow. When the cat matures, it kneads to show its contentment and pleasure.

Our kitten was given to us when she was about 7 weeks old. She constantly tries to suck on us (our arms, neck, face, fingers, hair, etc.) like she would if she were feeding on the momma kitty. What can we do to stop it?

Answer: Your kitten may still be experiencing some anxiety over leaving her mother. Pets, like people, are individuals with different ways of expressing themselves. Your kitten may be communicating a need for more attention by sucking as if she were still nursing. It may also be that your kitten is expressing contentment.

Whenever the kitten starts to suck, you might want to gently push her away and sternly say 'no'. She may get her feelings hurt, but she will come back to you again just to be petted. You may have to follow this procedure several times (and it needs to be consistent by all family members).

i'd feed her a kitten foodstuff. She needs extra nutrition whilst she is nursing and, simply by fact the kittens become previous that is going to likely be an elementary transition for them besides. If she is on Purina Cat foodstuff, purely stay with Purina and circulate to the kitten formula. ultimate needs on your new additions!

i had a cat that used to do that to me. i got him when he was 10 weeks old, his mother had gotten hit by a car, so he was starved for milk awhile i guess.

now that i look back on it, its probably a wonder he lived through it all, but he got hit by a car too eventually. i couldn't keep that ding bat indoors. he just always wanted to be outside no matter how much i tried to keep him in. i dont know what i did wrong.

he will probably do it for the rest of his life, if he's done it to you up until this point.

our kitty does this too. SHe also nurses on my husband's ear! he says it is really loud! SOME cats never grow out of this because they were taken away so young (from their mom) I am not sure what to do about it yet.

it is a comfort thing, if kittens are taken away too soon, or with traumatic consequences, they can do this, i have had several cats over the years that do this, it is not a bad thing.

As long as he does it in spots where you're comfortable with it, I don't see anything unhealthy about it. But do you want him to do it when you have friends around? Maybe you could buy him a little stuffed animal for those times.

My kitten does that to my waterbed :) If it is not a problem then don't worry about it. I agree with everyone else, he was probably taken from his mother or weaned to early.

That's kind of sick that you're letting your cat do this.... but... whats the question?
