Yes

When you are buying a car here's the overall technique to get the best deal.

RESEARCH what the car(s) you want are selling for in your area of the country. MSRP MEANS NOTHING more than don't EVER EVER pay more than that.

Insist on seeing the dealer's invoice. This gives you an idea what the dealer is paying the factory BEFORE all the additional dealer discounts. That is a real number but the dealer may be getting all sorts of other discounts beyond the dealer invoice. Like for year end specials, weird color, etc. Expensive options often are on the dealer invoice but the factory throws them in at reduced prices or for free depending on the time of the model year. Extra dealer discounts are more common and larger later in the model year.

In general you will be able to get the dealer to agree to come down to within a few hundred dollars (at most) of the dealer invoice. If you can get them down below the dealer invoice you're doing a good bargaining job.

If you're thinking of buying multiple vehicles don't tell them that and proceed to bargain as hard as you can pretending you are comparing the deal on the two vehicles. Once you think you've got them as low as you can go, say, "What will you do for me if I take them both?"

PUT A TIME LIMIT ON THE NEGOTIATION! Tell them, " I only have another hour, I have an appointment at the (competitor) dealer." Keep threatening to leave.

If you are buying more than two vehicles make an appointment with the "fleet salesperson" and use the same techniques.
