The CIV/CCV code is a security code that is a unique 3 or 4 digit number printed on the back of your credit or debit card. The number is not printed on receipts when the credit card is used because it's not embossed on the card. This makes it difficult for anyone other then the original credit card holder from knowing the security code.
This code is also referred to as the card security code, personal security code and card verification value.
The 3 digit number is normally printed at the top of the signature strip on the reverse side of the card. It can contain the last 4 numbers of your credit card or in some cases the entire credit card number printed first which is then followed by the actual 3 digit CCV Code.
The 3 digit CCV Code is the number that you will be required to enter on the payment screen. It is used in almost every online transaction as a security feature to protect the original credit card holder.

Amanda Amanda The code is called a CVV2. It's located on the back of your credit card, on the signature line. It's a three digit code that is also contained in the magnetic stripe of your card.
Hope this helps!
