Arturo Fuente are one of the best brands on the market...I prefer their hemmingway a nice big mellow smoke. Cohiba red dots are phenomenal as well. CAOs are OK. Romeo Y Julietas are really good. Macanudos and Punch are other brands that are popular but Im not crazy about them. There are many more little brands that are fantastic if you get a good batch remember hand rolled is best...if youre near florida hit Ybor city for hand rolled cigars and experts in the field or this little independent shop on in temple terrace but i dont recall the name sorry. If your somewhere else your local cigar shop should have someone on staff that enjoys the habit and will know whats quality in their stock. A quality store will have a nice humidor, not necessarily walk in but more than some display case with a sliding glass door is necessary to ensure you get a good fresh smoke, nothings worse than a cigar so stale your wrapper breaks apart. With any of the cigars I mentioned make sure you have the necessary accessories. Congrats on your (assuming) impending arrival. JRcigar.com is a discount site you can find many of the brands I mentioned.

Cohibas are one of the best but somewhat expensive. But, why not, it is your first child. Romeo Y Julietas are also very good and more affordable. Most cigars from the Dominican are good. Congrats.

Java.. I'm not sure the exact kind, but if you can find one formed into a flattened shape... it's awesome.
