It's nice both ways, if you have a friend travelling with you, then you always have someone to play cards with, chat to ... but you may need to compromise on the route you take, where you will go...plus if you've planned the trip together, it's hard to meet other travellers sometimes...

and if you go solo, it's the opposite of that!

You can search for a travel companion on the site beow, plus you can get advice on that site about where to go and where to stay!

hope it helps

There are trade-offs either way. While it's nice to travel with others, I certainly never hesitate to travel alone to see and do things that interest me. When you're traveling alone, you have a lot of flexibility to change plans if something catches your attention and see and do exactly the things that most interest you. I would gladly go to any of the places you mentioned alone if there was no one else that wanted to go.

Lots of people travel round the world by themselves. No hassles, you can do and go where you want when you want, no petty arguments....
As lots of people travel on their own you will easily meet other people in the same situation.
If you really want to travel wih someone else check out the lonely planet website and go to the thorntree forum. I think they have postings for travelling companions. But just make sure that if you meet anyone on there that they are genuine.

try advertising for a travel buddy if you really want one.
probably better to take a good friend someone you already know and trust if traveling the world.
advertising for a complete stranger to accompany you is asking for trouble. but then so is going it alone.

may be take your boyfriend, an old school friend, your moim, your gran, (me (joke)).
seriously it is your life if you want to risk a stranger then do it. but i'd be inclined to take a friend if it were me. but then i have no friends. so i'd go it alone. as scary as that could be.
also you may like to learn a few essential phrases in several languages, such as where is the toilet, where is the nearest/best reasturant. just two phrases that spring to mind!

what ever you decide, good luck and happy traveling!

It depends on what you want to get out of your experience. A travel mate will allow for greater safety, and you may enjoy having someone to share your experience with. However, if you either want to take an "inward journey" or easily get annoyed with others you are probably better off going alone.

How dare you choose the stranger to travel with you, I suggest you should find a travel mate among your long time friends, and both of you can share and enjoy

There are services for travel companions. Usually they match you with someone who has been there before and knows the region, but you can request someone other.
In my travels, I travel alone, but I have friends who travel together,

id say go alone, you have to make more effort to meet people than you would if you were to go with a friend, ive spoke to lots of people who have travelled with good friends but they can hardly speak to each other after a couple of months. plus you can do what you want when you want, its your trip and you may never get to do it again, so do it your way. have fun
