It is the nicer part of town. Especially Georgetown and Dupont Circle. Very pricey and great restaurants.

Yes, particularly Northwest. Anywhere on the Red Line of the Metro from Dupont Circle to Friendship Heights (and into Montgomery County, Maryland).

Yes, actually referred to as Northwest. DC is split into four quadrants, NW-NE-SW-SE. NW's nicest neighborhoods are Georgetown, Dupont Circle/Logan Circle, Woodley Park, Cleveland Park, Glover Park, Van Ness, Tenleytown, American University Park and Friendship Heights. The most affordable are Dupont/Logan and Glover Park.

Spring Valley would probably be the nicest: some people may say georgetown or dupont circle or friendship heights they have there problems to.
the best would probably be the area around spring valley or sibley hospital if you can afford it
there are robberies in georgetown friendship heights and dupont circle. it really depends on what you mean when you say nice.
do you mean safe area nice as in architecure or what.

DC is in regions so i have lived in SE and Ne regions and SW and NW are the downtown and uptown so crime is less likely to produce on this side and by me visiting its a real good place if you choose the neighborhood that best fit you if you ain't loud go to a quite area and ppl are very to faced and young girls and boys like to jump ppl so beware for your teenage family that comes to visit but i think the west is as good as it is going to get
