I have a slight swelling/soreness behind my upper incisor tooth. It doesn't hurt but whenever I brush my teeth, they bleed a lot. There's no pain but I'm a bit worried as to what this could probably be. I maintain my teeth quite well and don't have any cavities etc. I'm a non-smooker and I'm 23 yo. Please help if you have any idea what it could be. Thanks!

Try flossing real good in that area. It could be something stuck in there and irritating the gum. I would make an appointment with the dentist just to make sure it's not infected. That could get bad in a hurry.

I'm a dentist.

It could be a lot of things, ranging from an infection to some sort of neoplastic process.

You need to see your doctor (i.e. dentist) and have it checked out.
