The easiest and most accurate way is to take your temperature. If you don't have one handy some symptoms might be chills or a hot forehead.

Hmmm...let's think about this one. Oh, I have it! Why don't you use a thermometer (ear, mouth, rectal, I don't care) and take your temperature? If it is over 98.6 you technically have a "temperature." However, some people have an average temperature above or below 98.6 all of the time, so you really have to know about yourself personally to know if this is a good judge. If my mother has a temperature of 99, which isn't high for a lot of people, since her average temperature is closer to 97.6, it's a higher temperature for her. However, in general, you know that you have a fever if you use a thermometer, take your temperature, and see that it is above 98.6.

Take your temperature. If it's over 98.6, you have a fever. Your forehead will feel warm to the touch, your cheeks may be red.

There are symptoms like cold sweats, delerium etc. But if you feel hot without reason then take your temperature and find out for sure. Your normal temp should be 98.6 F. If you are above that temp. by more than a degree at resting, then start to monitor yourself.

Stick a thermometer under your tongue and wait 5 minutes.

If the thermometer reads more than 98.6º, you have a fever.

When your temperature is elevated above 100.3 F we consider it a fever.

Dont put your hand on your forehead this is inaccurate. It's always warm. Generally speaking if you have a temperature higher than lets say, 99.5, thatd be a red flag.

Feel your forehead, does it feel warm to you? This could be an indication. Be warned, 98.6 is only an average, some people sit a little cooler, some sit a little hotter.

I have a thermometer that tells me. If I'm not felling well or have the chills I use it.
