I have parakeets and saw some extremely cheap cockatiel food on sale, and it looks the same, except for some large sunflower seeds. Is it OK to feed them this, and will they eat it?

They are physically able to eat it ... however cheap food isnt always the best quality. Changing a birds diet for no reason could throw him/her off. I changed my cockatiels seed and he started acting sick until he got his regular seed back. It's best to keep them on what they're used to.

They can eat it, but it isn't a good idea. They call it cockatiel food for a reason. Different birds have different needs. Giving a small bird like a parakeet food made for a bigger bird like a cockatiel isn't healthy. A lot of seed looks the same, but the quality can be drastically different. Always beware of cheap priced pet supplies, 9 times out of 10 they cause more problems. Sunflower seeds especially are not good for parakeets. They will probably eat it, but that doesn't mean it is good for them. If you are going to change foods though, for any reason, always gradually change it. Mix the food together and wean them off the old stuff. Good Luck!

Parakeets will eat the cockatiel food my 2 parakeets have been eating my cockatiel food for 3 years and they are doing fine. But most birds are different so yours might like the parakeet food better.
You can also feed your parakeets apples, crackers, pears, and other types of different fruits also

well yes but they wont eat the sun flower seeds and that is made for lager bird so it doesn't have the same nutritional properties that the budgie seed have but it should be fine if you use it only once or twice.
