If I only believed in God for comfort, I wouldn't bother. I wouldn't want to take comfort in something that might not exist. However I do believe, I do know He exists, and yes, He does give me comfort sometimes - and sometimes He definitely makes me uncomfortable.

Depends on how the individual decides to define the realm of "God". I personally believe our minds are too limited to even consider the idea of divinity beyond us - it is a psychological adaptation for one to believe there is a "God", for survival purposes. It gives the confidence and "hope" that humans may need in life or death situations, and most in society are generally far too ignorant, lazy or fearful of pursuing philosophies or ideologies outside the basic tenets of theocracy.

It's when you realize that you alone are capable of invoking the hope and confidence, that you don't need a crutch to help you along. But that, dear, is an extremely huge leap to take - larger than this leap of "faith".

Most certainly.

God is my comfort

Having lost a child of 12 years due to a tragic accident, almost nine years ago, I have experienced first hand, God's comfort.
Without it, I would not be here today.
