I don't know the answer to your question, being brand new to Houston, myself. But the best way to find a hairdresser for any kind of hair is to find people whose hair you really like, and ask them where they got it done.
Go into salons which cater to black hair styles and have your hair shampoo-ed and styled. Get to know the hairdresser, let the hairdresser get to know you. A style can be changed if it doesn't work. After you have a good feeling about the hairdresser you've chosen, then let them cut or color your hair. In other words, take it slowly. If it just doesn't seem to click with the first one, go on to another one. Eventually you will find someone who you can work with to achieve your goals.
