Of Course they care about Atheists: the whole crux of their religion is to condemn those who do not believe to hell.
We have no such thing or vendetta against them except to rightfully say they are delusional.
I have to agree somewhat with the poster above,
I think there is a still small voice of doubt in all of them, the atheist inside, or the logic and reason if you will, and it scares them to death.
The brief belief in a higher power of some kind on every now and then occasion for an atheist doesn't come any fear because we have already summised that a punish and reward system God obviously doesn't exist.
Catch my drift??????

unfourtunately, the "taunts" you see are mostly in response to silly questions posted by people saying they are christian. If you look through the section totally, you will notice that the problem is acctually christains (not all but some) who have no respect for any beliefs apart from their own. They cannot accept that a person belives science over religion and post questions like "Atheists: Whats gunna happen when you die and you realise that you are in hell?" Fortunately, good minded Yahoo Answers community members with standing report these questions for being in violation of community guidelines (being that they are degrogatory and often not acctually a question) so they get deleted. Christians have less respect for others belifs and that is why they are so disliked. They constantly push their religious views down everyones throat. Most are in-apable of having a debate without using god as an excuse (ie "because it is a sin" "because god says its wrong") When was the last time a budist or a hindu came bashing on your door to tell you about their god? when was the last time there was a violent jewish contingent abusing women about the choices they make for their bodies? Hopefully we can ALL understand that you should ask a question if you dont want to hear the answer, only ask genuwine questions - not just a statement to incite heated comments, and realise that if someone says something mean to you, its probably because you deserved it

I am a Christian and I do not know about others accusing Atheists of being obsessed with Christianity. I have never known an atheist personally, but since I have been on this Q&A forum I have answered many questions posed by Atheists.
I don't think I would have called it an obsession on my own, but since you mention it, it does seem that they have a very strong drive to disprove of the Bible and the faith. Their method is what I call into question. They ask questions like, "The Bible says you should not judge, but Christians judge all the time." (Which, by the way, is not question, but an accusation.) Well, that's because they're reading one Scripture. There are many verses in the Bible that deal with judging and you have to put them all together in order to get the BIG picture. The Bible actually says that Christians are not to judge NON-believers, but that they are to judge those within the church. And this is not judging someone to HELL, but showing them sin in their life so that they can repent and live righteously. (1 CORINTHIANS 5:1-13)
The Bible doesn't literally say, "Christians are going to go to heaven when they die." But if you read from Genesis to Revelation, you can not conclude anything other than there is a reward for the righteous. This place is without tears, pain, sorrow, and they will be with God forever. Atheists would pose questions about subjects that can not be PROVEN or DISPROVEN with one verse from the Bible. It takes a complete understanding of all of the Scriptures, including understanding about God's nature and historical context.
But the atheist seems to be focused solely on that ONE VERSE that proves Christians to be ignorant and stupid and sometimes just plain illiterate. They lack the understanding of Scripture that comes from God when we put our faith in Christ Jesus. Yet they continue to hound on these subjects over and over.
I only answer these Atheists because I know other Christians will read the Q&A and may really want to know the answer. I use Scripture and word studies to show why we believe what we believe. (Very few Christians answer questions on the forum using Scripture and I think that is sad. It probably means that not many of them actually know what the Bible says about the subject, but they are just sharing what they've been taught all of their lives. I don't think this honor God because we have to be able to stand on our own faith.) Doing these Bible studies has helped me because I have learned about things that I was not sure of before. I just wish more Christians would study the Bible in order to know the truth instead of spout off out of anger.
I don't hate Atheists. The evil is not in the person, but in the lie that they have believed. I don't know if I will ever change an Atheist's heart by sharing my answers. I just feel compelled to answer because there is so much deception being spread and misquoting of the Bible. I feel compelled to show people the truth-in love, of course. That is always my intention.
I just found out that a girl that I knew many years ago is now an Agnostic. I am really not sure what you believe. I have studied many beliefs, religions, and cults, but I just never felt compelled to study Agnosticism.
There are many Christians out there who do more harm than good. For this, I am sorry. If we all were good students of the Word it would be different, but unfortunately not all Chrstians care about what the Bible says. I do and that is why I share my faith. You can check out my Q&A. (I'm also into herbs and stuff, so I have answered other kinds of questions, as well as faith-based questions.)

Most people can't look beyond what they believe to think that there could be something out there that isn't about them, or about what they believe. They are unwilling to take the time to learn anything about anyone else, or others beliefs. That's just the way it is. But to be fair to my fellow Christians, most atheists attack Christianity before any other religion, so it's hard to not think that they are obsessed with proving everything about Christianity wrong. Believe or don't. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other what you believe, just don't attack what I believe to make yourself feel better, or look better to your group of friends or followers.

I call Atheists "obsessed" with Christianity as a result of observation.
For example, why are there so many of them here in a "religion & spirituality" forum? Is the golf forum too boring? Why not politics? Science? Cookie recipes?
What is it about religion that draws you in day after day?
(Sounds like an obsession to me.)
Actually, I make comments like this based on my observation of other forums, as well. Even in places like www.answerpool.com, the old www.ask.com and yahoo groups where there are forums for every religious belief, including Atheism, Atheists gather in the Christian forums and harrass us.
They are certainly free to do so, and I'm certainly free to make a good sport of their arrogance and immaturity. Right?
So you tell me...what's the interest? Really? You don't believe in God, why are you here?

I totally understand you, and your life story is not boring as one of the answerer suggested. But bear in mind that science and other methods are tools free for anybody to use; both theists and atheists. Do not run into the pitfall of monopoly. At the end of the day, it is up to you to discern.

because justby being there, atheists belie their beliefs. If there really was a god, he wouldn't let these unbelievers exist, but would change their minds. Perhaps many so-called christians really wantto be atheist but are afraid of the social stigma it would cause.

That point of view makes no sense because God has indeed revealed himself to humanity. Just because you have not experienced doesnt mean it ant ever possibly be.
Hell is a very convincing argument!

You are also not a scientist. Empiricism dictates that lack of evidence be interpreted as certainty (though not absolute) of nonexistence. Nobody says they are "agnostic" about unicorns. Yours is a copout.

It is all a bunch of mudslinging, can't we all just realize that this question will NEVER be answered? Can't we all just get along? Can't we all just grow up and be tolerant!?
