A man recently thought he booked a trip from London to Sydney, Austrailia on the internet. He ended up in Sydney, Montana. How good are you on the internet? Who will help you when the hotel says "sorry we overbooked and have no rooms left" when you arrive there. If you book online then call a travel agent to help you make changes they cannot help.

I would definitely use a travel agent. Make sure the travel agent is famililar with your destination. Not everyone has been everywhere. They can know a plenty even if they have not been there.

I would not use an agent again.

I had trouble with an international flight. It took months for them to supposedly chase up the refund, and then tell me the airline would not refund. I then realised, if the airline refunded to the agent, they could keep the money and I'd never know.

The agent also had written terms that stated I would get a refund under these circumstances and it never happened.

Cut out the middle man and do it yourself.
