I have used XP Professional and Home and now upgraded to Vista Home Premium but found that there is hardly anything you really need apart from few changes on the display which you can get with any third party free softwares. Also it is difficult to find things than XP as it is straight and simple. Microsoft has tried to copy things from Apply Tiger thats it..... Why to waste money to upgrade...???

Dont get afraid when you read comments like

@ Vista currently offers horrible performance for graphics applications utilizing the Open GL@

We found Vista updates for the Futuremark benchmark programs 3DMark and PCMark, as well as the popular data compression tool WinRAR. Lots of video-related software such as DivX could no longer be installed; new versions are required. The popular audio player WinAMP 5.32 throws up an error at startup, yet it works properly. Quake IV can still be executed, but the installation program did not work. Applications that run their own memory management won't benefit from Vista's SuperFetch function. For example, Adobe Photoshop takes care of creating a temporary work file every time it launches - Vista has no access to this process and cannot speed it up.

Conclusions are yours....

By the way... why do people buy a new car when their old one stills works well?

It is never worth buying the new Windows Systems until at least 2 years into the system as they rush it through anyway. You might as well wait until you read about all the problems, see how easy it is against hackers, how easy it is to crash and if it is worth the hassle of a new system.
I bought Windows 95 then XP just before the SP2 came out (it lasted about 10 years) and I will continue to use XP until my system is non-upgradable. Why change something that works OK?
It is only worth upgrading if you get something new and easy to use but I have read so much bad things about Vista, I don't think I will bother with it (like Windows ME-not touching with a 10 foot barge poll).

I was planning to upgrade to Vista but then I took a closer look at the benefits I found out they are pretty much the same than Windows XP. Just wait a little bit until you see that certain programs you need will work better with Vista.
Good Luck

Vista is terrible, you are right. Bill Gates already has enough money to forget about how it is to be hungry.

BTW, XP is not the best IMHO. I personally prefer Win98SE. Do you know, why Microsoft stopped supporting it? It was the first operating system after MS-DOS, which was really well-made. But being well-made it couldn't give Microsoft money all the time, so they decided to create an OS with service-packs.

I wouldn't recommend "upgrading" to Vista yet.
It's still in Beta and there are still many bugs to be found.
I'd say get Vista well after it has come out. 2-3 months is a good time cause then many people would have it and you'd be able to get many different opinions from people you trust.

Vista utilizes the 64bit processor which computes 2x fast. When more programs come out for it, it will be fantastic.
