personally I didn't want to be a grandparent until... 'I was the age to be one'.. and continually told my son that... with age comes wisdom!!! I didn't want to be a 30 yr old grandparent who didn't even know how to care for myself fully!... now I'm 52 and looking forward to being one....I can love, teach, cuddle, laugh,oh ya and spoil (with respect to me) and simply enjoy the innocence of a young mind learning about life...it really does keep us old folks young to run around with a youngun...lol.....heres the big one....don't have children for your parents!!!, give them grandchildren when the time is right FOR YOU....

it is just a part of life. every parents dream is to be able to live to be a grandparent and see their grandchildren grow up and have a happy life. they also want to see how well their parenting skiils rubbed off on you. they also want to be there to give you advice on raising your child since they are a part of you and they raised you. they can give you tips on things that no one else can. that is why parents want grandchildren so much. it helps them complete their life circle so to speak. hope this helps. good luck.

Because it's so much fun to have kids around the house--especially ones that you aren't responsible for things such as: diaper changing, grades, college funds, discipline, hearing the whining and fighting, juggling your life any more, cutting into your social life.

So they can spoil them and love them and then send them home.

And it makes them feel young as will.

Oh yeah then they can also say see what we went thru with you, now the shoes on the other foot, but always with a smile.

Keep smiling

I'm not sure any one really has the answer, but I think it's to carry on the name and/or genes. Also, because they can love them because they are a part of you but they can hand them back to you and go back to their peace and quiet again!!

This is going to sound morbid, but they want to a part of that child's life before they pass away.

they want to be grand parents because they want to show you what it is really like to be a parent and also to show what tough times you put them through when you were a kid....they want to watch you get stressed out like you made them so that they can comfort the grand child and spoil them like they never ever did for you.

So they have more time with them to spoil them and such before they pass on or get too old to do anything with them.
