At some point in his life, he will but not now. He has said that he wants to race for RCR in his daddy's car at the end of his career, which isn't now. So if he does leave DEI after this year, it likely won't be with a move to RCR to drive the #3.

He may go to RCR if a deal isn't worked out with DEI. I am alomost certain he will not drive the Black 3 and noone else probably ever will either. There is a chance Jr could build his own team/company for next year. Time will tell.

Just like Stewart said... if JR leaves DEI, then they will be nothing but a museum. Secondly, I would hope that Theresa would realize that the above would come true, no matter how much she might think it wouldn't. Jr might give in to less than 51%, and despite the fact that he'd be a good addition to RCR, I don't think he's going anywhere. His dad's business means too much to him.

He will not drive the 3. By the way, the 3 has never been retired. RCR doesn't own the number, NASCAR does. It will be back, just not for awhile. 8 was Earnhardt's Grandfather's number so he will probably have that.

No.I hope little E stays with Dale Earnhart Inc. that is what his father wanted. The Earnhart family has a strong Nascar history, way before Lil E and Dale Sr.
And I hope everyone will respect Dale Earnhart Sr. and his career by retiring the number three. It's only the right thing to do, out of respect for a man whom brought so much heart to the great sport of Nascar and joy to his huge following of fans.
Either you liked Dale or you hated him.
I like Chevy.
But, DW(Darrell Waltrip) and the #17 car was my Chevy in the time of Dale Sr. and those were the good old days. Talk about Boogie, boogie, boogie!

the number 3 is retired due to Dale Srs death...If Dale Jr is forced to leave DEI, I think he will most likely go to RCR, the team Sr raced with before he started DEI.

Childress, who pays NASCAR for the right to the number that Earnhardt drove to six championships for Richard Childress Racing, said retiring the number is his first preference.

"We're all going to work together on it,'' Childress said before Thursday's 150-mile qualifying races. "We all want to see it retired, but if it's not I will do what I have to make sure that [somebody's in it].

This is a comment from an interview on 2/16/06 with Childress on Nascar.com. As stated in other answers the # is not retired.Nascar owns the #,Childress has rights to it.Also I cant find the article now but Childress stated that the 3 will be back on the track but has stated that no matter who the sponsor is it will never be black again.

Soooo....Kelly thinks Richard Childress Racing is more beneficial advantageous for Jr. than Hendrick Motorsports? Hendrick Motorsports...the creme de l. a. creme of NASCAR, the finest of the most ideal, the single with a crew that is searching to 4-peat for the first time in the historic previous of the game...that Hendrick Motorsports? If she tells Jr. to offer up his holiday at HMS for a niche at RCR, she's an fool. If he does it..he's an fool. per chance now that Jr's in his mid-30's he ought to oh, i don't understand...initiate wondering for...himself?

from what i heard earlier today, teresa is no longer in the negotiations.she has turned it over to others in the organization.i think Jr. will get what he wants, and that is 51%.so no i dont see him leaving.BUT,if he does wind up leaving DEI and going to RCR,i think he will take the bud sponsorship with him.as far as the car # i believe the team owner, teresa earnhardt, gets to keep that.so possibly we will se Jr driving a red #3 with bud as a sponser.
what do u think?

Dale Jr.is currently in despute over wanting a controling steak in DEI. So it doesn't look like he'll jump ship to RCR. Also the #3 was retired and will never be driven by anyone because of obvious reasons.
