Has anyone ever made a dessert that's similar to them? I'd love to have a recipe so I could try to make my own peanut butter cups.

I have a recipe for "buckeyes". It's an Ohio treat. Hang on and I'll find it...

Buckeyes Recipe
This candy is made with peanut butter, chocolate chips, and other ingredients. Allow about an hour for chilling time.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
4 ounces plus 3 tablespoons softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 to 4 cups confectioners sugar, about 1 pound
1/2 cup very fine graham cracker crumbs
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
PREPARATION:
With a wooden spoon or large mixer with paddle attachment, beat peanut butter, butter and vanilla until smooth. Slowly stir or beat in confectioners' sugar and graham cracker crumbs. Mixture will be dry, but will hold together when shaped into balls.
Shape mixture into 1-inch balls; place on wax paper lined cookie sheet and chill in freezer or until firm.
Melt chocolate chips over hot water. Spear a peanut butter ball with toothpick or dipping fork and dip ball into the chocolate to cover most of it. Place chocolate side down on cookie sheet. If desired, leave the top uncovered to resemble the Ohio buckeye nuts. If desired, drizzle more butter over the balls to fill in gaps made by toothpick or dipping fork. Refrigerate buckeyes for about 2 hours or longer, or until the chocolate is set. Store buckeyes tightly covered in refrigerator or freezer.

Makes about 5 dozen buckeye candies.

1 lb. powdered sugar

1 stick of margerine

A half bag of chocolate chips

1 cup of peanut butter

Melt margerine in a small pan

remove from heat

Stir in peanut butter

pour in mixing bowl

then gradually add powdered sugar (you may not need the full 1b. You want this mix to be thick but not to dry. When it starts to get to hard to stir all the white out, you have enough. Make sure you have stired well)

Next put chocolate chips on low in a well dried saucepan

when melted pour a little in a small pie tin ( I wash and save the tins from pot pies) (but if you don't have any you can line peanut butter lids with tin foil to shape, then gently pull out, with foil still attached and sit on plate then do another)

Next press p.b mixture in tight and top with chocolate.

Last put in fridge to harden.

Peanut Butter Cups Copycat Recipe
From Stephanie Brown,

This recipe is a copycat recipe for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They take some time to make, but it's well worth it.
INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (not fresh or natural, they are too runny)
1 1/2 bags semi-sweet chocolate chips
36 foil mini muffin liners
PREPARATION:
Mix sugar, sour cream, whipping cream and vanilla.
Stir in peanut butter and refrigerate for 3 hours or longer.

Place muffin liners on cookie sheets.

Melt chocolate chips in microwave or double boiler.

Drop 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate into each liner.

Use a small knife or the tip of a spoon to spread the chocolate about half an inch up the side of the liner.

Refrigerate about half an hour or until chocolate is firm.

Remove liners from refrigerator and drop 1 teaspoon of peanut butter mix into each liner.

Flatten the mix with the back of a spoon, but do not spread to the very edge of the liners.

The remaining chocolate will have cooled and become thick, so remelt it in the microwave or double boiler.

When it is smooth, spoon 1 teaspoon more into each liner, or enough to cover the peanut butter completely and form a flat top.

Refrigerate or freeze until chocolate is firm.

Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator.

I know you didn't ask this, but Jell-o makes a no-bake dessert like PB cups that is FABULOUS!!! Look for it in the cake-mix area of the store.
