We got a cat a few months ago and my wife's allergies have gotten progressively worse. She got an allergy test and she is definitely allergic to cats. She could get shots, but they may or may not work and will take some time to take affect. OTC allergy medicines don't work. Perhaps she should try something like Zyrtec, but I was wondering if there was a natural 'cure' available that actually works. Please let me know what you've tried and the results.

Sometimes it is psychological and not real. Sometimes, it is real. Some good home filtering systems can help. If nothing else, try a room filter. If the filter doesn't work, figure out which one you can get rid of cheapest: the cat or the wife.

Allthough I have not tried anything of this sort, I do know that shaving your cat shouldn't be done. The reason why people are allergic is because of dander, not hair. Not only that, but it's very upsetting to have one of your *staff* shave off your your wonderful fur.(*note: in refference to cat and dog ownership, with dogs it's people, with cats it's staff).
But any way,the reason I am saying this is so that if you don't find a 'cure', don't go to extremes, it can be very painful.
