I found that the new squeezy bottle of marmite seemed to be more diluted than the normal marmite in the jar.

It was that diluted that when I put it in the cupboard upside down as instructed, it leaked and left a real mess in the cupboard!! I was'nt impressed!

Well, I have a Marmite & Cheese Panini at Starbucks every Sunday morning and I've noticed that the taste has been getting weaker and weaker. Maybe you're right. If so, how silly they are to mess with the value of their brand. It'll end in tears for Marmite!

I figured out why, I think. Now they have that stupid squeezy bottle, which does need it to be lighter and thinner so you can squeexe it out, they make it ALL like that to cut costs instead of making the runny variety for the squeezy bottles and the original one for the glass jars. At least it still tastes the same. By the way, I recommend it in a baked potato with butter and cheese. Mmmmm.

1. What is Marmite?
Marmite is dark brown-colored savory spread made from the yeast that is a by-product of the brewing industry. It has a very strong, slightly salty flavor. It is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of food.

Perhaps they are diluting it because you can get marmite in a squeezy jar now - there's no way you could squeeze the original marmite out it's too thick.

If it is proper Marmite rather than supermarket brand "Yeast Extract" which tends to be lighter brown and more lightweight. Last small jar of the real thing I had was ok. You spread more now they took that silly "spread thinly" message off of the lid.

Absolutely. And the new jars are rubbish. Its a conspiracy. First the marmite, next, the world.

Bloody hell! I haven't noticed anything! Marmite on toast for breakfast tomorrow morning ... and I'll report back!

Right! I've just had it for breakfast and I hate to say it but I can't see any difference. It may be paler and runnier but it still tastes lovely especially on hot buttered (none of that 'sod me it's not butter' crap!) Mmmmm

Yes I agree..I ended up putting loads on to get the taste...when in the past I used it quite sparingly. I've switched to vegemite now..much tastier.
